Spokane is harder on vehicles than a lot of places, and it shows in what comes through the bays. The magnesium chloride brine on the roads through winter seizes brake hardware, suspension fasteners and electrical connectors years earlier than a drier climate would. Freeze-thaw opens potholes every spring. The grades on the South Hill and Sunset Hill mean sustained braking rather than the occasional stop.
